Requests!

Hey Kiri, how about you be the first person to post a picture of your new house on the blog? I want to see proof of your new existence.
(and seriously, the hallways are completely dead, the fishing rod battle was a very unusual event). ;-)

And Bjorn and Wiebke - hello?! Where is your contribution? I'd loooove to see a picture of you guys. It's been sooo long... well, a year 'only' but still.

Take care,
kia

Kaori's Hen's Night!

Sorry I took so long to post these pics, been slightly busy with changing countries ;)
But here they are!

The whole lot of us at the Julep lounge in Manuka, very swanky looking, very swanky prices ;)

Juanita after dinner, saying farewell to Corque, and the fantastic food there!
Lucy and Kaori share a tryst at Muddle...

And all of us party gals on the dance floor (freaky guy not included)

And lastly at the taxi stand, night over, exhaustion sets in.

You haven't being posting enough :-P

Just trying to set up youtube so I can later upload clips of the new movie.

The Last Supper

Ok, I was planing to print 'The last supper' and send it with Heather to give to Antti... but my prime time for writing thesis seems to be the same as the photo store opening hours in Canberra, so I haven't gotten around to do it, and Sparky is already traveling.
So I guess our personal Jesus don't get to see it first and exclusively. Instead it will be published here, and hopefully if people do a search on Google for Jesus images, they will find this fine example! ;-)

Farewell party/movie fund raiser

Friday night we had a farewell party with heaps of drinks and food (as advertised earlier on the blog by Raul). Anyway, the night was a hit! Here are some photos from the event:

Everybody happy after eating Raul's beautiful food.

Party by the barbecue.

Marina, Manuel, Ivana and Hiroe in front of the Sangria bucket!

Me and Anto.

Japanese hug.

French-kissing on the dance floor....

Of course the guys got inspired.... Maarten maybe a bit too inspired.

Nori - probably the bravest Japanese on the planet!

But then there were the Kiwis...

Always the worst!

A final real kiss!

How a black background can help save the world

Apparently using a black Background on your blog decreases the watt consumption of your computer by around 30% (www.blackle.com). I have done that with my own blog and humbly ask permission to do it to this one as well. Below is a trascript of the news item where I found this:

According to Ecoiron, "an all white web page uses about 74 watts to display, while an all black page uses only 59 watts".

This is quite significant since a normal computer desktop has a 250-550W power supply, so reducing as much as we can is important, even if it is just under 10% of the total power supply.

Cheers,

Raul

Antti's farewell party!

Sorry, it took me a while to post these pictures... Since this festive evening all I've heard from Antti is that he is partying in his summer house (sauna, bathing in the lake, drinking Finnish beer)... but maybe, maybe he also miss us as much as we miss him!

Earlier than normal I started seeing double that night.

Someone really likes Antti...

Marteen having a giggle.

Your highness (johannes) looking quite happy among three beautiful chicks!

The dynamic trio!

Our magnificent fund-raiser is coming! Next Friday, the 10th of August, 2007 at 8 o'clock. Instead of an entry fee we will charge some money for drinks, like $1,5 and $2 for Sangria and beer respectively, $2,5 for wine and fancier beers. Hope to see you guys there. An e-mail invite will be sent shortly.

AH HA! And you thought you could escape Canberra without a blog word from an Australian (yes, okay, so l am not Canberran born and bred - thank god!). If you think Canberra is boring now with a great mob of people to hang out with - imagine what it is going to be like when you all leave.

"Jesus" has left the building

Our dear friend Antti "Jesus" Paavo Aukusti Kallio has left Canberra today indefinitely. We had his farewell party last Saturday. I don't have any pictures of said party but if any members of the blog do, please post a few of them. I have known Antti for 4 years and he was the perfect housemate. His extremely high tolerance to alcoholic beverages led many of us to believe he had two livers. I am not sure what is going to happen to our own alcohol consumption now that he is gone from these shores, but we'll see. I speak for all of us in saying that he will be sourly missed! Of course if he bothers to sign up for the blog and post regularly we might miss him less :-P!

I leave you with a picture of Antti-Jesus at his best during a Carnaval party last year.

The BBQs and Sangria!

During our time here in Canberra we still managed to contributer in a positive way to the landscape. For instance:

In each one of our little gatherings we forbade the concept of BYO meat to ever be inforced within our walls. This is something that all of us obeyed religiously. That way our guests were able to enjoy nice quality meat from a Brazilian/Portuguese styled BBQ (below)! We also on accasion took the trouble of producing dozens of litres of Sangria for the enjoyment of our guests (above) or we bought a few boxes a beer. This meant that when we invited people over, we were asking them for their company and not for them to come and use our facilities to cook their own meat and bring their own drinks.

We can only hope that our best efforts might have started a trend in Canberra towards people being generous and dedicated to their friends. Just a note, according to Kiri, this whole BYO BBQ concept seems to be restricted to Canberra. Other places in Astralia might not share this hideous practice... I can only hope.
